A few weeks back we got together for our monthly dinner with our good friends Matt, Deborah, and Baby Bryce. Jackson & Baby Bryce really enjoyed each other. Bryce would laugh at Jackson's goofy antics and Jackson would love on and be silly with Bryce. It was very cute!

We found out earlier this week that my grandma has a leak in one of the arteries leading to her heart. She will be having heart surgery tomorrow. Please keep us in your thoughts & prayers.

A boy & his great-grandma
Yesterday Jackson & I headed to my grandparents house for the afternoon. Their church was selling turkey plates to benefit the Knights of Columbus. That sounded sooooooooo good to me so my grandpa bought some plates for lunch. My grandma hadn't been feeling too well though. I noticed she was having some labored breathing. At one point she had a really bad coughing attack and was having a very difficult time catching her breath. After her attack, she started complaining of a heavy chest, some tightening, her back was hurting, and she felt as if she couldn't breathe. So we made the decision that she needed to go to the hospital ASAP!
My Mexican friends & family will know what I'm talking about when I mention 'ojo'. I grew up in a household where if you felt sick or what have you, someone may have given you 'ojo' (the evil eye), made you sick, and you needed to be rubbed with an egg. Once rubbed with the egg, it was cracked and put into a cup. If after a while the egg looked cooked, it meant that you had been given 'ojo'. My grandpa has been doing this with Jackson ever since he was baby. Any time I've mentioned that Jackson was sick or wasn't sleeping well or whatever, my grandpa would rub him with an egg. Jackson really likes it actually. It's kind of funny.
So yesterday after my grandma had her coughing attack, Jackson ran to the refrigerator and had my grandpa get an egg out. He pointed to the egg, rubbed his head, and said "Momo, Momo". I said "Do you want Momo to be rubbed by the egg?" He replied "Yeah". I thought, oh my god, what a sweet boy you are! I don't know if he had gotten scared or what all he may have been thinking but it was so sweet for him to go and get an egg for my grandma. Maybe he thought it would make her feel better or comfort her in the way it comforts him. He obviously knew she was sick. It was just the sweetest thing ever. So while my grandpa rubbed an egg over my grandma and said a prayer, I held Jackson and he watched with a smile on his face. It just melted my heart. What a sweet & thoughtful boy.
My grandma is in the hospital now. Turns out she has a lot of fluid in her lungs and some other complications. They'll be running some tests today to see what exactly is going on. My poor Gram, we hope she feels better real soon!

Activities
Jackson & I have recently gotten into doing a daily art activity. Well we try to do one everyday. Anyway, he's been having a lot of fun with it. His most favorite thing to do is paint so we try to do painting activities as much as possible! Here's a few things he's made:

Shiver Me Timbers!
Argh, Ahoy Mateys! It's Captain Jackson Sparrow!
Jackson had a great time on Halloween (despite the lack of expression)! We weren't real sure what he'd do or how he'd react to everything but he did great! In fact, he loved it!! He loved it so much that he'd tell people "more" as in "Give me more candy you Scallywags!" Not the most polite but he's a man that knows what he wants. What can you do?!? A couple of times he'd just reach into someones candy bowl, grab some loot, turn around, and walk away! What a scoundrel!
We took Jackson's wagon along with us in case our little pirate got tired. After every stop we made Jackson wanted a piece of his treasure. I think he opened and nibbled on a popcorn ball, 2 lollipops, and 2 sweet tart packs. He would've tried to eat more if we didn't keep a close eye on him! We called it a night at about 8. We would've stopped earlier but Jackson kept asking for more so we hit up a few more houses before making it back to ours. He had so much fun that he was completely worn out. He was out cold the minute his head hit the pillow!

4 Years
Jerry & I were married 4 years ago today! Yay us! :) Since Jerry has to work today we celebrated last night with a nice dinner and 2 small cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes....YUMMY! I did wake up this morning to a dozen red roses and a sweet card on the kitchen table! Oh & we also went out for breakfast and headed over to the CP Library to vote. We'd heard so many stories about standing in line forever so we were a bit worried. It only took us about 20 minutes though so that was good! (Sorry Diego & Crystal...I can't believe how long y'all stood in line)!
So I will be spending the rest of my anniversary with the other important man in my life....my little bubby head! ;)

Coming May 31, 2009
And baby makes SIX!
We are so excited! Well, everyone but Jackson. Seriously, when asked if he's ready to be a big brother, he says NO! When asked if he wants a baby, he says NO! When asked if he wants mama to have a baby, he says NO! Hmmm....we've got some time to work on this! :)
Stay tuned!!
sexy!
This is how I found Jackson when he woke up from nap one day....showing some shoulder! I thought it was hilarious!! By the look on his face, apparently he didn't!
Spaghetti Dinner with Friends
Jackson's friend Bryce & his mom Ann came over last week to hang out and have dinner with us. Jackson was so excited to see Bryce. He hadn't seem in a while so he really couldn't contain himself. Seriously, as soon as the doorbell rang he went screaming down the hallway and threw himself on the floor. He was thrilled! They had a really great time playing and eating together! We look forward to seeing them again soon, especially now that we live so much closer to them!

Leaving on a Jet Plane...
Don't know when I'll be back again. (Well, actually I do).
So my friend Wendy & I are headed out tomorrow to DC to visit my sister! Woo hoo! I'm so excited. I haven't seen Stephanie since January! I'm also looking forward to just spending time with the girls and having absolutely no responsibilities! No diapers to change, no picky mouth to feed, no bath time, no brushing little teeth, no Imagination Movers (although I do love them)! But man oh man, am I going to miss my little Bubby Head! He's going to be busy though hanging out with his dad doing "guy things" and spending time with his Popo & Momo and his Tia Annie. Meanwhile, Stephanie, Wendy & I plan to see & do as much as possible. I can't wait! We'll be back next Monday. Until next time!

Huh?

Someone in our neighborhood recently had a baby and put one of those big stork announcement deals out in their front yard. They had a boy and they named him Cohen Christopher! What!?!? Where the heck did that come from? Cohen isn't a first name! I know, I know, the same could be said for Jackson as it is also a last name but you have to agree that that's totally different. I first noticed Cohen tossed around as a first name back when I was pregnant with Jackson. I saw some girls on a baby message board posting that they liked it as name for their babies. I remember thinking "y'all must be fans of The OC!" Seth Cohen, anyone? Whatever the case, I think it's weird to use Cohen as a first name. It could be weirder, I suppose. They could have named their kid Ybarra Christopher!

Sticker Chart
A couple of weeks ago I was desperately trying to get Jackson to help me clean up his mess. He'd just point to it and say "Mama, Mama!". I said "No way, you need to help! I didn't make this mess!" He's taken a big interest in stickers so I asked him if he wanted a sticker. He said yes! So I said "okay, well if you help me clean up, I'll give you a sticker." That did it. The kid went to town and totally helped clean up the huge mess he had made. When he was all done, he got the sticker I promised him!
So I decided to make him a sticker chart where he could put the stickers he earns from helping to clean up. I didn't know if he was too little to really understand it but nope, he got it alright! It's been a HUGE success. All I have to ask is if he wants a sticker for his chart and he gets to work. When we're done cleaning up, we give each other a high five and then head on over to the fridge where he places a sticker on the chart and gets a sticker to keep (he likes to put them on his shirt). We're already on the 3rd row this week. Once he fills up a row he gets a special treat. Here he is enjoying some ice cream!
Christy, remember those magnets? :)
He wasn't too thrilled about me taking his pic.
