Road Trip to Chicago - First stop...St. Louis

We decided to make the most of our trip to Chicago and make a few sightseeing stops along the way. Our first stop was in St. Louis to see the Arch. It was a very cold and windy day so we bundled up and made our way to the park area to take some pictures.

The Gateway Arch

Jackson wasn't too impressed with the Arch. He was ready to get back on the road. Actually he was ready to sleep. This is what he looked like soon after we left.

Onward bound! Next stop...Abraham Lincoln's house.

Happy Birthday Bisa!

Today is Jackson's Bisa's birthday! Happy Birthday Bisa (short for bisabuela, Spanish for great-grandma). Jackson had the great idea of putting together some of his newborn pictures in a nice collage frame along with his footprints from when he came into this world. We know she'll love it! We love you, Bisa! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!!

Great-Grandma Elka

Sadly, Jackson's Great-Grandma, Elka (Jerry's grandma), passed away on Friday, February 9th. It was also her 81st birthday. We had planned to make a trip out to Chicago this week so that she & Jackson could meet and spend some time together. Unfortunately, she grew sicker and left us much sooner than we expected. We ended up leaving for Chicago the next day (Saturday, 2/10) so that we could attend the funeral services. It was the least we could do. Because of a snowstorm that unexpectedly blew into Chicago, Jackson and Erica were unable to attend Elka's funeral services. However, Jerry was able to go and see Elka for the last time and say goodbye. We're so sad that she never had the chance to meet little Magoo but find comfort in knowing that she's with him in spirit. We love her very much and we will miss her dearly. Rest in peace, Elka, rest in peace.

Baby Buddies...Daniel & Jackson

Yesterday Jackson's little buddy Daniel came over for a visit. His mom & dad, Wendy & Ben, brought him over. Mr. Daniel is exactly 3 weeks younger than little Magoo. They seemed to hit it off :) Actually, I don't know what they thought of each other. When Daniel slept, Jackson was awake and when Jackson was awake, Daniel slept. Go figure...such is the life of a baby. We did manage to find a small window of opportunity where they were both awake and in good spirits to snap a few shots! Oh and please excuse the unbuttoned pants on little Magoo...his belly got in the way!

We're baby buddies and we live in Kyle! Welcome to our hood!

Yo, what up! This is how we roll...baby style!

Uh-oh, looks like Daniel is rolling baby style a little too hard.

We lean to the right...

We're still leaning to the right...

And then we lean it to the left!

That's how we roll it...baby style!

Little Rookie Magoo, his mommy, and the local police!

So Little Rookie Magoo turned 9 weeks old on Wednesday. To see some of the latest pictures click here. To celebrate he went out to lunch with his friend Hannah (who is 5 months old) and her mommy, Amie. He slept through most of lunch but woke up towards the end to take in the sights and sounds of Garcia's in Buda...yum!

Little Magoo also experienced his first run in with the LAW this week! He and his mommy were on their way to visit Magoo's great-grandparents and were traveling southbound down the frontage road of I-35 when a local policeman, headed northbound, passed them by. His mom looked in her rear view mirror and noticed that the local policeman made a u-turn. Magoo's mom thought to herself, "I know he's not coming after me!" since she was dutifully abiding by all the local traffic laws. So she continued down the frontage, stopped at the stop sign, traveled eastbound across the bridge, and began to make a left turn onto the frontage road when she noticed lights flashing behind her. It was the local policeman! Magoo's mommy just could not figure out why on earth they were being pulled over. The local policeman approached the car, gave the whole policeman schpeel, and asked if Magoo's mommy knew why she was being pulled over. Magoo's mommy said "I have no idea." The policeman then pointed out that their inspection sticker was expired. It expired 12/6 and it was now the end of January! Oops!! He asked if there was a reason it hadn't been taken care of and Magoo's mommy said "Yeah, because of him (as she pointed to the back of the car where Magoo was sitting)." Did the local policeman show any sympathy towards Magoo & his mommy? Nope! He wrote Magoo's mommy a ticket and told her to take care of the inspection ASAP!! What did Little Rookie Magoo think of the whole thing? Who knows...he was asleep the whole time! Go figure!!
