Goodbye!

I've had this blog for over 2 years. It's been good to me but it's time to move on. We're starting a new chapter, which means And Baby Makes Five has come to an end. Thanks for following along on our journey for the past few years. We hope you continue to follow along with us as we document our lives with our new addition...little "Daney" girl.
Much Love,
Jerry, Erica, Jackson & Delaney!

If you didn't get the new blog address, let me know. I'll email it to you. If I don't have your email you'll need to leave it in my comments section.

Changes

So there's obviously been a lot of change around our house. We're settling and adjusting...it's been fun and exhausting! Our blog will be changing as well. It's slow going but as soon as I'm done, I'll let you know! Stay tuned!

She's Here!

Delaney Marie Cohen was born Wednesday, May 13th at 3:06 am after a very quick labor. Again, I missed out on an epidural! She weighed 6lbs, 2oz and measured 18 inches long.
We are all madly in love with her!!!

More pix and my birth story to come soon!

Family of 3

Tonight we celebrated our last night as a family of 3. Tomorrow evening at 6pm I'll be checking into the hospital to start the induction process. I'm 37 weeks this week therefore officially full term. I'd much rather go into labor on my own but with the all the blood pressure issues I've had, my doctor doesn't want me to go any further. I'm cool with that. I'm so over this whole mess! Plus whatever is best for my health & the baby's is the most important thing.

Tonight though I savored every last moment as a family of 3. We had a nice dinner. We headed outside for some evening play time. I sat & watched while Jerry & Jackson ran around the backyard. We laughed a lot. Jackson totally cracks us up! We hung out on the couch, watched Truck Fun (a show Jackson's obsessed with), and had an evening snack. We capped off the night by reading books, counting fingers & toes, and saying good night for the last time to our only child. The next time we tuck him in at night, we'll have 2 kids! I have to say I got choked up. We've spent 2.5 years with our sweet little guy and I know, I'm really going to miss it. Our lives are going to change dramatically...in a good way, but I still couldn't help but feel like I'm losing something. I know all those feelings will go away once I see & hold my sweet baby in my arms, but for now I'm sad that our time as a family of 3 has almost come to an end. So the next time you hear from us, we'll be a family of 4! Well, if you want to count the cats that'll make us a family of 6! Wow! I can't believe that time is already here! Wish us luck!

And to my sweet Jackson, you taught me what it meant to be a mom. I hope you always know how very special you are to me. I love you bunches, Bub!

Until next time...

Bouncy Seat

We brought out Jackson's bouncy seat the other day so that we could put it together and get it ready for baby. Oh my, it brought back so many memories! Last time around, I went into labor the night Jerry put it together! That bouncy seat was also our life saver. Jackson wouldn't sleep anywhere else but in that bouncy seat! I know he slept in it for at least the first month of his life and probably longer, I can't remember anymore. So we knew this was something we absolutely had to have ready before she arrived. Jackson, of course, had to help! And there's me...tired, swollen, and so ready to have a baby!

A Special Painting

My grandpa had an awesome dresser made for the baby. It's definitely one of those lifetime pieces that can stay with her forever. It needed to be painted so Jerry enlisted Jackson's help. He decided to let Jackson paint the side of one of the dresser drawers. Jackson loved it and we thought it was super cool that his little sister would always have a painting from her 2 year old big brother.

Play Ball!

Jackson LOVES playing baseball! He loves to hit off the tee but he also likes to be pitched to. And I have to say, he's pretty good. He also loves to throw himself on the ground and tackle his daddy. They have way too much fun together!

Squirrel

As I was opening the blinds in my bedroom one morning, I found this little guy sitting in the bush just outside my window. He looked so darn cute! I had to grab my camera and take a few pix. I wondered if he maybe had a home in there but I haven't seen him in there again since. I guess he was just relaxing there that one morning. Or who knows what he was doing. I don't know how squirrel's work!

Chocolate Cake

Mmm...chocolate cake...soooooooooooo GOOD! Thanks Tia for making yummy chocolate cake!

Camping Trip

In late March, Jerry & Jackson went on a camping trip with Jerry's crew from his station. It was Jackson's first camping trip and he was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! He had absolutely no clue what camping was but he was thrilled about going. He couldn't stop talking about it and as soon as Jerry got home from work he said "Otay, Daddy let's go, let's go!" He was too excited to even nap. Plus he knew Mr. Josh (aka. Ms. Josh) and Bryce were going as well so he just couldn't contain himself. They had a great time up until a freak cold front came through. That night it got really cold & windy. I was so worried about them! Jerry said Jackson was pretty warm but he was freezing! They came home early Sunday afternoon. It was too cold to stay any longer.

So what did I do with myself while my boys were gone!? Well, I hung out with Ann. We were both by ourselves so we figured we'd enjoy the evening, grab some dinner, and do a little shopping. It was nice but really weird to be without our kids! Neither one of us had been completely alone in over 2 years!!! It was so weird for me to come home to an empty house later that night. It was a nice little break but definitely strange. And although it was only one night, I missed my little Jackson! :)

Hail

I think it was late March when that hail storm came through our area. Jerry went outside to grab a few pieces for Jackson to see. He loved carrying them around in the towel. He kept them until they melted and immediately wanted some more. At that point though, all the hail had already melted outside. No more hail since then and we hope we don't get anymore!!
