Catching Up
Wow, December has been a really busy month for us! I haven't had a chance to blog about everything we've been up to so here's a quick rundown plus a some pictures of what's been going on.
Craft Day at Angie, Ellie Rae, & Luke's
We spent 2 days last week making salt-dough ornaments with our friends. We had a great time. We never got to finish our ornaments but we still had lots of fun!
Raiding the Cabinets
Surprisingly, Jackson had never been too interested in our cabinets until recently. Now he loves going around the kitchen trying to see which canbinets he's allowed to play with and which ones he isn't! He was starting to get sick here and you can totally see it in his eyes. Poor guy had a fever for about 3 days.

Jackson & Biso
We left Jackson with my grandparents one day to babysit so Jerry & I could get some Christmas shopping done. I snapped a few pics of my grandpa and Jackson playing around! They love each other so much!!
Pretending to be Daddy
Jackson got this super cool fire cruiser from Grandma Flo & Grandpa Larry for his birthday. He doesn't quite know how to use it yet but he absolutely loves playing with it! I think he likes pretending to be his Dada.

Jackson & Uncle Rebel Cat
We went to visit my mom last weekend and she had this huge box that Jackson kept messing around with. Rebel jumped which intrigued Jackson so we put him in there as well. Jerry grabbed the camera & took a few shots.

Trail of Lights
We went to the TOL last night. It was alright. I always loved going as a kid and I love that they have some of the same displays they had when I was younger but the crowds suck! Actually, when I was growing up we drove through which was pretty cool. I'd prefer that to walking and fighting the crowd but I'm lazy and I absolutely HATE being around so many people. The first half of the TOL was super crowded and Jackson couldn't really see much from his stroller so we just went off to the side and pushed our way through. The second half thinned out and it was much more enjoyable! Jackson really loved all the lights. He had the best time at the Christmas Tree across the street. It was so funny! He was so excited, he couldn't stop giggling. The minute we got him out of his stroller, he took off. Well tried to anyway. This whole walking thing is still new to him so he took a few tumbles. He never stopped giggling though. I really don't think we'd ever seen him so excited! After taking a few spins under the tree, we called it a night!

Finger Painting Mess!
We attempted to do some finger painting the other day. It was pretty funny as Jackson wanted to eat the paint instead of spread it around on the paper! I don't think he was too thrilled about me taking pictures!

First Steps
I haven't had the chance to post this yet but Jackson took his first steps last week! I believe it was on Tuesday. My grandparents were here visiting and my grandpa was sitting on the floor playing with him. He stood Jackson up to face me and Jackson just took off towards me. He took maybe 5 steps before he dove for my lap! I didn't know if it was a fluke so we didn't give it too much thought. But the next day, he took a few more steps! He's gotten a little better with each day. If he sees something across the room, he'll now attempt to walk towards it instead of crawl. Just this morning, he was cautiously walking all around our kitchen. He's even attempted to try to stand up on his own (as opposed to pull himself up to standing). So it's been pretty exciting around here! Unfortunately, the little guy is getting sick. He started running a fever yesterday and has a runny nose. So we're keeping a close eye on him and hoping he doesn't get too much worse!

Fredericksburg
We took a trip out to Fredericksburg this weekend with our friends Josh, Ann, & Bryce. We had a great time! Everything was nicely decorated for Christmas. Our plan was to walk around Fredericksburg, eat some dinner, and then head back to Johnson City to see their Christmas lights display. Well unfortunately after dinner I became super sick to my stomach. So Jerry, Jackson, & I had to bypass Johnson City and come straight home. The drive home was horrible. I was completely miserable! Thankfully by Sunday morning I was feeling a little better. Not 100% but better. I was able to take a few pictures before my downfall. Enjoy!

First Birthday Party
Jackson's Peanuts themed birthday party was this past Saturday, December 1st. We held it at the amenities center here in our neighborhood so as not to have to clean our own house! :) It went fabulously!! Most of our family and close friends were there as well as Jackson's buds Bryce, Daniel, and Luke! Jackson was so excited and had such a great time! He totally scored in the gift department! He got some really cool things including a wagon, a push around buggy, a cozy coupe car, a giraffe tent, a classic cruiser fire truck, and more. Everyone was so generous! I think his favorite part of the entire day however was cupcake time. Again, he LOVED eating his cupcake and scarfed the ENTIRE thing down!! As if one cupcake wasn't enough, he kept pointing for more! We were so worried he'd be sick that night but thankfully he was just fine. He went to sleep at his normal bed time and we didn't hear a peep until the next morning! Guess he was pretty worn out!
We still can't believe that our little guy is one! I mean, we actually managed to keep this little human being alive for a whole year! ;) Seriously though, this past year with Jackson has truly been the best. I'm certainly a little sad that he's growing so fast. I miss the tiny little baby he once was, but watching him grow, learn, discover, and explore new things every day is such an amazing gift. We're so lucky to have this little guy in our lives and we're so thankful that so many people came out to celebrate our sweet boy!
**I haven't had a chance to upload our pictures from the birthday party. When I do, I'll be sure to post them ASAP!

Birthday Fun!
Jackson spent his birthday having all sorts of fun. His Grandma Flo and Grandpa Larry were in from California helping to celebrate his big day. We started the day after his morning nap by heading out to lunch at Texadelphia. After lunch, we went to the Austin Children's Museum. We were there at a great time as it wasn't the least bit busy. Jackson has a blast! He loved crawling around the baby/toddler area. He really enjoyed the train and construction zone areas. He especially loved the red ball pit and got a real big kick out of the pigs parachuting in the Tinkerer's Workshop area. After the museum, we headed down South Congress and stopped at Hey Cupcake. We bought Jackson a Snowcap cupcake, which he happily devoured later that evening! He scarfed that cupcake down like a pro!! He ended his big day with lots of cupcake up his little nose! It was the perfect end to a perfect day! :)
