The Road Home...A Few More Chicago Pics

Here's a few more pictures taken on our way out of Chicago. No we didn't get a new car...we just borrowed my aunt's van so that we'd have more room.
Happy Sunday!

The van was pretty dirty from all the salt & snow!

Chicago

We're pretty tired today. We had a fun day out at the park with Magoo's friend, Hannah, and her mommy, Amie. So we're just going to leave you with some pictures from our time in Chicago. Talk to y'all next time!

Oops!

We just wanted to acknowledge our big oops! Magoo's sign for his 3 month pictures should have read "I turned 3 months old 2 days ago" not "I was 3 months old 2 days ago". As new parents, we've been zapped of many brain cells. Well, that's what we like to tell ourselves!
Happy Thursday!

Pumpkin Head Magoo is 3 months old!

Wow, where does the time go? Jackson turned 3 months old on March 1!! He's growing so fast. We've noticed a lot of changes in the past few weeks. He's got a big, round head (thus, Pumpkin Head Magoo) and still has a big, round belly! He has started to make different vocal sounds with multiple syllables and occasionally laughs. He's doing a lot better at tummy time and has started to slightly grab at things. Actually, we think he grabs at things on accident. He's doing really well at sleeping through the night. He usually goes down around 9/9:30 and wakes up to eat in the 4-5 o'clock hour, goes back to sleep, and then wakes up for the day in the 7-8 o'clock hour. Oh and he sleeps in his crib now!! Woo hoo! He has officially moved upstairs and is out of our room. It's been going very well.

As for the rest of the family, Jerry is doing great. He keeps busy with work and CPR. Erica keeps busy with Jackson, play dates with friends, and visits with family. Amber & Zoe keep busy with sleep, eating, fighting, more sleeping, more eating, more fighting, and then sleep again, then more eating, and the cycle just repeats itself over & over.

We took a couple of pictures of Pumpkin Head Magoo on Sunday to mark his 3 month birthday. The awesome outfit he has on is from his Great-Uncle Gary and Great-Aunt Jill. Oh and we never had a chance to share pictures of Jackson from Valentine's Day. You can see those here.

Oh and lastly, here's a special message from Pumpkin Head Magoo. The first person that can decipher what he said...wins! ;)

Abraham Lincoln's House

Our next stop on our way to Chicago was in Springfield, Illinois to visit Abraham Lincoln's house. We barely made it in time to join the last tour group of the day. Again, Jackson wasn't impressed with this major landmark. He whimpered on & off and eventually fell asleep. He didn't seem to care too much about where our 16th President once lived. Silly Magoo! Next stop...Chicago.

Road Trip to Chicago - First stop...St. Louis

We decided to make the most of our trip to Chicago and make a few sightseeing stops along the way. Our first stop was in St. Louis to see the Arch. It was a very cold and windy day so we bundled up and made our way to the park area to take some pictures.

The Gateway Arch

Jackson wasn't too impressed with the Arch. He was ready to get back on the road. Actually he was ready to sleep. This is what he looked like soon after we left.

Onward bound! Next stop...Abraham Lincoln's house.

Happy Birthday Bisa!

Today is Jackson's Bisa's birthday! Happy Birthday Bisa (short for bisabuela, Spanish for great-grandma). Jackson had the great idea of putting together some of his newborn pictures in a nice collage frame along with his footprints from when he came into this world. We know she'll love it! We love you, Bisa! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!!

Great-Grandma Elka

Sadly, Jackson's Great-Grandma, Elka (Jerry's grandma), passed away on Friday, February 9th. It was also her 81st birthday. We had planned to make a trip out to Chicago this week so that she & Jackson could meet and spend some time together. Unfortunately, she grew sicker and left us much sooner than we expected. We ended up leaving for Chicago the next day (Saturday, 2/10) so that we could attend the funeral services. It was the least we could do. Because of a snowstorm that unexpectedly blew into Chicago, Jackson and Erica were unable to attend Elka's funeral services. However, Jerry was able to go and see Elka for the last time and say goodbye. We're so sad that she never had the chance to meet little Magoo but find comfort in knowing that she's with him in spirit. We love her very much and we will miss her dearly. Rest in peace, Elka, rest in peace.

Baby Buddies...Daniel & Jackson

Yesterday Jackson's little buddy Daniel came over for a visit. His mom & dad, Wendy & Ben, brought him over. Mr. Daniel is exactly 3 weeks younger than little Magoo. They seemed to hit it off :) Actually, I don't know what they thought of each other. When Daniel slept, Jackson was awake and when Jackson was awake, Daniel slept. Go figure...such is the life of a baby. We did manage to find a small window of opportunity where they were both awake and in good spirits to snap a few shots! Oh and please excuse the unbuttoned pants on little Magoo...his belly got in the way!
-Erica

We're baby buddies and we live in Kyle! Welcome to our hood!

Yo, what up! This is how we roll...baby style!

Uh-oh, looks like Daniel is rolling baby style a little too hard.

We lean to the right...

We're still leaning to the right...

And then we lean it to the left!

That's how we roll it...baby style!

Little Rookie Magoo, his mommy, and the local police!

So Little Rookie Magoo turned 9 weeks old on Wednesday. To see some of the latest pictures click here. To celebrate he went out to lunch with his friend Hannah (who is 5 months old) and her mommy, Amie. He slept through most of lunch but woke up towards the end to take in the sights and sounds of Garcia's in Buda...yum!

Little Magoo also experienced his first run in with the LAW this week! He and his mommy were on their way to visit Magoo's great-grandparents and were traveling southbound down the frontage road of I-35 when a local policeman, headed northbound, passed them by. His mom looked in her rear view mirror and noticed that the local policeman made a u-turn. Magoo's mom thought to herself, "I know he's not coming after me!" since she was dutifully abiding by all the local traffic laws. So she continued down the frontage, stopped at the stop sign, traveled eastbound across the bridge, and began to make a left turn onto the frontage road when she noticed lights flashing behind her. It was the local policeman! Magoo's mommy just could not figure out why on earth they were being pulled over. The local policeman approached the car, gave the whole policeman schpeel, and asked if Magoo's mommy knew why she was being pulled over. Magoo's mommy said "I have no idea." The policeman then pointed out that their inspection sticker was expired. It expired 12/6 and it was now the end of January! Oops!! He asked if there was a reason it hadn't been taken care of and Magoo's mommy said "Yeah, because of him (as she pointed to the back of the car where Magoo was sitting)." Did the local policeman show any sympathy towards Magoo & his mommy? Nope! He wrote Magoo's mommy a ticket and told her to take care of the inspection ASAP!! What did Little Rookie Magoo think of the whole thing? Who knows...he was asleep the whole time! Go figure!!

Longhorn Magoo is 2 months old today!

Our little Longhorn Magoo had his 2 month appointment this morning. Poor little guy he ended up with 5 vaccines....1 oral and 4 shots. Poor baby, he screamed bloody murder! We felt so bad for him. He did pretty good during the day today. He slept a lot but he also had some major bouts of fussiness. We could tell he was uncomfortable so we gave him some Tylenol to help ease the pain. He also had a nice, long warm bath this evening, which he seemed to really enjoy until he peed and pooped in the water! That seems to happen during every bath time though.

We took a few 2 month pictures of Longhorn Magoo. They're included for your viewing pleasure. He's still working on his Hook 'Em Horns sign and learning The Eyes of Texas....in time he'll get it and make his parents proud!

So until next time....or 'till Gabriel blows his horn...

Hook 'Em Horns....even if it is upside down! Hey, he tried!!

Uh-oh, I think we might be losing him!

Yep, we're losing him!

Criminy, we lost him!

Amber Rose

Amber Rose...she's quite the cat. She's little Magoo's older feline sister. She'll be 8 years old this May. She really loves her family but despises many of the strangers that come into her house. I know many of my family members can attest to that. She's hissed at, swatted at, and has even bitten a few of them! (Sorry y'all). My sister is afraid of her and my brother calls her the 'devil cat'. She's really not that bad. In fact, she can be quite the sweetheart especially where her daddy is concerned. She loves to take care of him and even groom him from time to time.

Amber Rose also loves little Magoo. We were worried she'd be mean and would resent him when he came home. It took a little while for her to come around (she was just scared of him) but she eventually did and now loves to hang out with the little guy. They're so sweet together!

See, Amber's not a devil cat. She just looks like one! ;)

Future Fireman J.Cohen

We took Jackson by Fire Station 7 (Jerry's old station) for a visit. Jackson decided to dress the part. We think he looks mighty handsome! :) The last picture is an all too familiar face in the Cohen household.
