Houston, we have a roll over!

Well, it's official....Jackson is a rollin' & a rollin'! Woo Hoo!! Yesterday evening (Sunday) I put him on his belly to do some tummy time. I've been crossing my fingers that he'd roll over soon but he never gave me any indication that he was anywhere close to doing it! Instead, he'd show me his pouty lips and start fussing because he HATED (and still hates) tummy time! So I wasn't expecting anything different. Anyway, he's on his tummy and starts to teeter a little bit from side to side. The next thing I know he's pushed off his right arm, rolls to his left, and lands flat on his back!!! I couldn't believe it! It was actually really, really funny because it looked like he went in slow motion. What was ever funnier was his reaction. He was a bit startled...he didn't know what had just happened! And of course, I scared him to death since I screamed out in delight. Who knew a roll over would cause so much excitement! Unfortunately, his daddy missed the whole thing even though he was sitting in the same room just a few feet away! He was busy on the laptop and happened to look down at the very moment Jackson rolled over. :(

Jackson showed off his new found ability by rolling over several times at his great-grandparents house today! They were very impressed and quite amused. He just looks so funny when he rolls. It's the coolest thing though and I'm so excited about it! My little guy is growing up! ;)

On to the next accomplishment...

He actually looks like he's enjoying it here but for the most part he really does hate it!

ZoZo Cat Cohen

Zoe still tends to keep her distance from the little guy. If he's lying on his play mat, she'll stop and watch him from afar and then quickly run past. If he starts crying and she's nearby, she'll take off runnin'. She's pretty leery of the guy. What scaredy cat wouldn't be afraid of a pumpkin-headed, pot-bellied baby whose arms and legs flail uncontrollably!?!? :)

Well, one afternoon we had Jackson laying on the bed. Zo Zo was on the opposite end. She looked over at the little guy, got up, walked over to him, sniffed him out, and then plopped down right beside him! That was the closest she'd ever been to him in his entire life! We guess it was a once in a lifetime deal because she's never done it again. She looks at him and keeps her distance. He's pretty scary, you know.

Luckily we had the camera handy to catch this once in lifetime event on film. No flames, please! We know he's lying in between the pillows...that's where he told us to put him! Just kidding! Sheesh, what kind of parent blames their child? :) No, seriously, we had been lying next to him but got up to take the picture. Okay, we should stop there before we have more explaining to do!

Catch ya later alligators!

TCB in Graceland

So our last stop on our way home from Chicago was in Memphis to visit Graceland! We were surprised that it was in a pretty crappy part of town and that it was so much smaller than we expected, but it was really cool nonetheless. Again, Jackson wasn't too impressed. He slept through the whole tour! We told him "This was the home of the King of Rock and Roll, dude!" but he didn't care. He just wanted to sleep.

We, however, took our time checking everything out. We took lots of pictures. You can see those here. We expected to see lots of timeless antiques and what not but it ended up being the most gaudy 70's decor we've ever seen! It was like the whole house was stuck in a 1970's time warp! Typical Elvis, we suppose. TCB (Taking Care of Business), Elvis' motto, was plastered everywhere! So that became our motto on the road. We were TCB at the gas station, TCB at Chick-fil-a, TCB at Target, Jackson was TCB in his diaper....you get the picture! ;)

Anyway, Graceland was very cool and we had a great time! We made our way out of Memphis fairly early in the day and made it to Little Rock that evening. We tried to stop at the Clinton library but it was already closed. Oh well!

Until next time...

Jackson's Baptism

Mr. Jackson Magoo was baptized on Saturday (3/10) at St. Mary's. The same church that we were married in. Most of you guys were there and saw that it was under renovation, much to Erica's disappointment! It's been completely renovated and looks absolutely gorgeous!

Anyhow, Jackson's Uncle Diego and Aunt Stephanie were his godparents. Jackson did so well!!! He sat nice and still on his Aunt Steph's lap, didn't cry when he was anointed and had water poured over his head, and cooperated nicely during picture taking! There were even a few comments from other guests that he was such a well behaved baby! Yep, that's our Magoo! ;)

After the service, Jackson and his whole family (his great-grandpa, grandparents, aunts and uncles, his cousins, a very special family friend) all went to eat dinner. Magoo was so worn out from being an awesome little dude during the service that he slept through most of dinner. Since he was asleep, we had to take it upon ourselves to open all the gifts he received. Jackson got some good stuff from the fam. He got a cross, some plaques to hang in his room (Footprints for Children and....hmm...we can't remember the other one...sorry, Annie!), clothes, money, and an exersaucer!!

After dinner, Magoo and the fam then made their way to his great-grandparents house to visit his great-grandma since she wasn't able to make it to the baptism. He had a great time hanging out with her! Around 9 o'clock, he was ready to call it a night! As soon as we got home, he crashed! It was the perfect end to a special day!

Here are some pics from the baptism:

The Road Home...A Few More Chicago Pics

Here's a few more pictures taken on our way out of Chicago. No we didn't get a new car...we just borrowed my aunt's van so that we'd have more room.
Happy Sunday!

The van was pretty dirty from all the salt & snow!

Chicago

We're pretty tired today. We had a fun day out at the park with Magoo's friend, Hannah, and her mommy, Amie. So we're just going to leave you with some pictures from our time in Chicago. Talk to y'all next time!

Oops!

We just wanted to acknowledge our big oops! Magoo's sign for his 3 month pictures should have read "I turned 3 months old 2 days ago" not "I was 3 months old 2 days ago". As new parents, we've been zapped of many brain cells. Well, that's what we like to tell ourselves!
Happy Thursday!

Pumpkin Head Magoo is 3 months old!

Wow, where does the time go? Jackson turned 3 months old on March 1!! He's growing so fast. We've noticed a lot of changes in the past few weeks. He's got a big, round head (thus, Pumpkin Head Magoo) and still has a big, round belly! He has started to make different vocal sounds with multiple syllables and occasionally laughs. He's doing a lot better at tummy time and has started to slightly grab at things. Actually, we think he grabs at things on accident. He's doing really well at sleeping through the night. He usually goes down around 9/9:30 and wakes up to eat in the 4-5 o'clock hour, goes back to sleep, and then wakes up for the day in the 7-8 o'clock hour. Oh and he sleeps in his crib now!! Woo hoo! He has officially moved upstairs and is out of our room. It's been going very well.

As for the rest of the family, Jerry is doing great. He keeps busy with work and CPR. Erica keeps busy with Jackson, play dates with friends, and visits with family. Amber & Zoe keep busy with sleep, eating, fighting, more sleeping, more eating, more fighting, and then sleep again, then more eating, and the cycle just repeats itself over & over.

We took a couple of pictures of Pumpkin Head Magoo on Sunday to mark his 3 month birthday. The awesome outfit he has on is from his Great-Uncle Gary and Great-Aunt Jill. Oh and we never had a chance to share pictures of Jackson from Valentine's Day. You can see those here.

Oh and lastly, here's a special message from Pumpkin Head Magoo. The first person that can decipher what he said...wins! ;)

Abraham Lincoln's House

Our next stop on our way to Chicago was in Springfield, Illinois to visit Abraham Lincoln's house. We barely made it in time to join the last tour group of the day. Again, Jackson wasn't impressed with this major landmark. He whimpered on & off and eventually fell asleep. He didn't seem to care too much about where our 16th President once lived. Silly Magoo! Next stop...Chicago.
